It all began years ago, when I started haunting teddybear fairs. One day I decided to buy a pattern, because it seemed kind of fun to create my own teddybear. I noticed how great I felt seeing the final result. So, at the next fair I bought another pattern; this went on for a while so that in the end I came home with bags packed with material. Since I was getting more and more experienced, every new bear looked better than the previous one. And after a while I just grabbed a piece of paper and tried to design a teddybear myself, and actually this went quite well.
When my sister saw my bears she was amazed and advised me to give it a try at a teddybear fair. At the end of the day my sister convinced me of this idea and together we made the big step to show my bears in Ahoy, Rotterdam, one of the biggest teddybear events in Holland. It was really exciting (and a bit scary too), but as a matter of fact the public loved my bears, so we went home proudly that day.
Having attended to many national and international fairs, quite a few bears have found their new homes in Germany, Belgium. England, Switzerland, Austria, France, Russia and of course in Holland.Even outside Europe are living a couple of lediteds :America, Canada and Australia.
The bears are all handmade collectors items and they're all designed by myself.
I still enjoy making bears very much and intend to make many more of them in the future.
I always try to make sure my bears have an original and appealing expression, I hope they appeal to you too.
Well, hopefully I have made you curious enough to take a look around.
Lots of teddyfun,
Leny van der Eijk, LediTeds
I have been making handmade artist bears for over 15 years now. Even when I was a little girl,I have always loved teddybears. I first started out with my sister, that is why our "business name" is Lediteds [Le for Leny and Di for Diny and then ofcourse teds] After a few years she onfortunalety had to stop because of medical reasons. I decided to move on and visited many fairs and my sister started the website.
The last half year my daugther Linda stepped in to the business and now we are going to fairs together. We are making bears, bunnies, doggies, elephants and accessories. We are doing this with joy and love.
My sister is now maintaining the website and helps us with creative ideas. She is also responsible for the little story.
With bearhugs,
Leny van der Eijk.
My Sister Diny is joining us again. She makes Raggedy Dolls. She used a pattern of Sweet Meadows Farm. The Dolls are handmade and unique, one of a kind. The dolls are just like our bears and other animals made with lots of love.
With Bear and Dollhugs, Leny van der Eijk.
